Low-Maintenance Xeriscape with Flagstone Patio and Seating Wall

Some yards just wear you out. The watering, the weeding, the constant upkeep - it adds up fast. This homeowner was ready for a yard that looked great without demanding so much time and effort. That's exactly what we set out to build.

Out front, we reworked the planting areas with fresh mulch, river rock borders, and large natural boulders placed throughout. A new flagstone walkway cuts through the space cleanly, giving it structure without feeling overdone. New plants were added in thoughtful spots, small right now but built to grow into the space over time.

The backyard is where the hardscaping really shines. We built a circular flagstone patio using large, natural stone pieces fitted together tightly - the kind of surface that holds up for years and looks better as it settles in. Wrapping around it is a curved seating wall built from block, giving the whole space a finished, intentional feel. River rock fills the surrounding area, keeping maintenance minimal while tying the design together.

What we ended up with is a yard that actually works for the people living there. Less time maintaining, more time using the space. The front is clean and curb-friendly. The back has a real destination - somewhere to sit, relax, and just be outside.
