A flat, unfinished yard is one of the most common things we see when a homeowner calls us. No structure. No defined spaces. Just open ground that doesn't really work for anyone. That's exactly the kind of situation where hardscaping does its job - and does it well.
We built the walls, steps, and concrete surfaces you see here from scratch. The curved block retaining walls are some of our favorite work because they're not just decorative. They hold grade, define planting beds, and give the whole yard a sense of order. The stacked block steps that lead down from the patio to the yard? Those took precision. Every course had to be level and locked in tight so they'll stay solid for years, not just seasons.
The retaining wall running along the hillside property is a good example of functional hardscaping done right. Sloped lots without proper walls lose soil, create drainage headaches, and make usable yard space nearly impossible. A well-built block wall solves all of that at once. We topped it with a clean cap course that gives it a polished, finished look even in a rugged, wooded setting.
The garage-side concrete pad with the block wall surround is another piece we're proud of. Instead of a plain concrete slab sitting at ground level, the wall raises the whole area and gives it a structured, intentional look. Gravel backfill keeps water moving away from the foundation - that's not just cosmetic, that's smart building.
Every one of these jobs is different, but the goal is always the same: build something that looks great on day one and holds up just as well five years down the road. Walls, walkways, patios, steps - if it involves stone and structure, this is what we do.
